A no-sew Halloween costume for my dog with Oly*Fun

dog halloween 49er costume

Time for another fun blog hop with the Designer Crafts Connection, sponsored by Fairfield World.

My brother is a huge San Francisco 49er fan, so I thought a 49er "jersey" as a Halloween costume for our dog, Suzie would be the perfect way to play with Oly*Fun - a cool, non-woven craft fabric from Fairfield that you can sew, die-cut, paint, stamp...whatever you want! I can't believe I got a nice shot of Suzie on my brother's favorite 49er blanket - she's a fidgety pup!

Oly*Fun comes in lots of colors and it's easy to work with because it resists fading, tearing, fraying - and it's water-resistant too. I chose the three colors in the 49er logo - black, white and brick. I brushed gold paint on some of the white for the accents.

I used my dog's quilted coat as a pattern to cut the red Oly*Fun fabric to the same shape. This costume is all no-sew. I used Aleene's Fabric Tape on all the layers of white, black, gold and red. The "SF" lettering was printed on to Craft Attitude film and adhered to a white oval with glue stick and then trimmed out. I added adhesive Velcro strips to the flaps that go around her neck (at the top) and her belly. I also cut a little slot where the buckle from her harness can poke out to attach her leash...and she's ready for some trick-or-treating!

Be sure to check out what the other designers made with their Fairfield products - look for the DCC logo in our blog sidebars to hop back and forth between us. Bonus - there's a giveaway to enter too! Have fun and good luck!
